Sowerby pattern 1462 butter dish

Sowerby pattern 1462 butter dish (minus its lid), as shown on page 7 of pattern book XI (1885). 6 inches in total length, 2 1/2 inches in height and 4 1/4 inches in depth. Bears registry date lozenge and peacock head trademark.

The lozenge is for 2 December 1879 - Parcel 21, which covers the Sowerby bundle RD 343724 to 343731 inclusive. Of those 8 design registrations, only two (RD 343724 and RD 343725) are for butter dishes, and this is RD 343725.
