Seguso_Bowl_3a - Pulegoso?
|
This bowl was formed with an inverted conical depression in the base approximately 16 mm deep with a small smooth protuberance in the centre of the depression. This protuberance is approximately 6 mm in diameter and perhaps 2 mm high. The depression appears as if it was formed smooth, no obvious area where the pontil mark was ground a way. A series of flat facets have been ground on the lobes to form the base the bowl sits upon. Another series of facets have been ground on the lobes within the depression. This second series of ground spots meet wonderfully well with the ground facets that form the base, and they enlarge the inverted depression to about 5 cm (2 inchs) in diameter.
