A clear glass cake stand or comport, RD 494747, registered by M & J Guggenheim Ltd., London, on 24 January 1907. 8 inches diameter x 3 inches high.
The design registration appears to have been purely for the decorative surface pattern rather than the shape because there are several shapes known bearing the same RD number and decoration.
Max & Jacques Guggenheim were importers of chinaware, and of glassware (made mostly by the Libochovice Glass Company in Czechoslovakia). The also acted as British registration agents for foreign companies wishing to import glassware into Britain and. registered 16 designs between 1897 and 1938.
